You will be checked for periodontal or gum disease in our Beverly Hills office. We will use instruments and by getting X-rays ,we gently measure the depth of the sulcus (the distance from youtr gum to your teeth). A healthy sulcus depth is around three millimeters. Healthy gum tissue does not bleed, so no bleeding should be seen during your evaluation. Gum or periodontal disease causes the sulcus to deepen into a pocket. |

A periodontal probe can determine whether you have developed any pockets. The more severe the disease, the deeper the pocket. Radiographs or Dental X-Rays also may be taken to evaluate the amount of bone supporting the teeth and to detect other problems not visible with the naked eye. |
